The team works hand-in-hand with the executive leadership team to iterate & communicate the enterprise-level strategy, develop & deliver functional strategies and manage our portfolio of cross-functional programs to achieve our vision. About the role

The Strategy Partner will play an important role in developing enterprise-level strategies, the annual corporate planning process, and the development & delivery of important functional strategies. The role is designed to be agile and will present the opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects across the different teams within Strategy. Initially the role will be focused on our operational excellence agenda so expect to be analysing complex problems, developing considered solutions and working cross-functionally within the business to execute improvement projects.

The role is a great opportunity to leverage skills from a consulting, strategy or transformation background and apply to a dynamic industry role. This position provides the opportunity to think strategically, set a direction and perform implementation activities to drive tangible business outcomes. It will allow you to develop a deep understanding of the business, establish relationships with cross-functional stakeholders at all levels and build the skills required to progress within the organisation. This is a high-influence position where you will need to build a case for change and take stakeholders along the journey to achieve outcomes.

Key activities include:

  • Conduct internal and external analysis to inform strategic thinking and formulation of recommendations
  • Define solutions to solve complex business problems or opportunities.  Consider the pros and cons, trade-offs, implications and risks of a variety of options to make informed decisions
  • Create presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders and SMEs to identify, evaluate and execute opportunities to improve the business
  • Develop business cases and conduct cost-benefit analysis to evaluate the impact of strategic initiatives
  • Partner with business stakeholders to perform strategy delivery activities including implementation and execution of initiatives or projects, often working closely with operations, technology and digital delivery teams
  • Support the preparation of the annual corporate plan and prepare key strategic documents such as external analysts briefings and Wesfarmers planning conference presentations

We operate a hybrid working environment at Officeworks - a combination of working from home (WFH) and our new Corporate office in Chadstone. 

About you

Tertiary qualified, with 5+ years of relevant industry and/or management consulting experience, with a focus on strategy development and delivery to achieve growth and productivity objectives. Experience and exposure to the retail sector is preferred. Further; 

  • You are a structured, logical thinker who uses a data-led approach to identify opportunities and solve complex business problems. You have a bias for driving outcomes and are comfortable switching between blue-sky thinking and on-the-ground implementation
  • You are commercially and financially astute and enjoy evaluating the trade-offs of key decisions to land on the most suitable option
  • You area n exceptional communicator with the ability to tell compelling business stories and articulate complex narratives. You build strong stakeholder relationships, possess an ability to influence and establish yourself as a trusted advisor
  • You enjoy cross-functional engagement and working with team members across a variety of functions to achieve common goals
  • You have a high level of competency with MS Suite including PowerPoint and Excel
  • You are comfortable in an ambiguous and changing environment; you welcome and embrace change
  • You are curious, eager to learn and are seeking a role that will support your long-term career growth
