Structural Engineer
GHD delivers highly functional, economical, elegant, safe, and optimised structures by applying well-planned construction methodology and contemporary design technology. We work collaboratively with our clients as an integrated project team to provide designs that focus on constructability, simplicity, innovation, and technical excellence.
Following a recent restructure with Northern Australia, our Cairns office has a position available for an experienced and highly motivated Structural Engineer to assist with the design and documentation of structural elements in the civil infrastructure, bridges, buildings, and marine infrastructure sectors.
Working with our accomplished team of specialist engineers in this diverse field will see you involved with:
Performing and managing simple and complex analysis, design, and documentation of various structures including but not limited to civil infrastructure, bridges, buildings, and marine infrastructure.
Maintain existing and develop new, trusted relationships with key clients in the Northern Australia region.
Working as part of a multi-disciplined team on a range of projects from conception, including design, management, site works, and construction surveillance.
What You Will Bring to The Team
Bachelor of Engineering (Civil).
Registered Professional Engineer (RPEQ) or eligible to obtain within six months of employment.
Passion for design documentation, assessment and analysis of technical data and imparting knowledge, skills, and experience through the provision of professional development in others.
Excellent project management skills and ability and willingness to mentor junior engineers.
Comprehensive knowledge of Australian Building Code and Standards
Strong communication skills both oral and written (including report writing).
Demonstrated professional judgement and commercial acumen, including identifying, assessing, evaluating, and solving problems to brief and budget.
The capability to produce concise and accurate reports, technical specifications, design calculations, and drafting briefs and mark-ups.
Ideally as the successful candidate, you shall have more than 10 years’ experience within an engineering consultancy, however a minimum of 6-8 years experience will be considered where you have successfully delivered projects across multiple sectors such as civil infrastructure, bridges, buildings, and marine infrastructure.
