Role Details
The Structural Engineering Manager effectively leads and manages the Structural Engineering function of the development and construction business to successfully achieve project milestones and goals.
Pre-Acquisition stage:
- Provide high-level structural input to assist structural construction cost estimation.
- Review design schemes and fees, prepare project budget and let contract.
- Manage delivery of design documentation from external consultants
Pre-DA/DA stage:
- Provide conceptual scheme designs of low to high rise buildings and deep retention systems.
- Engage consultants such as geotechnical engineers and wind consultants.
DD stage:
- Work closely with builders to locate Tower Crane, Hoist, platforms and scaffolder.
- Create and track IFT/IFC program for consultants, determine slab joints, pour sequence etc.
Tender stage:
- Carry out an independent in-house design review to ensure tender complies with Standards and company’s spec.
- Prepare, manage and review tender for Excavation, Shoring, Piling, PT, Precast, Concrete and Formwork.
Construction stage:
- Provide technical solutions requested by the construction team to manage any design change to suit site conditions and constructability issues.
- Provide timeframe and deadlines for Consultants to issue IFA/IFC Drawings to suit site construction program. Assist Builders to manage external engineers to provide practical solutions to site.
Role Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Construction or related.
- 10+ years of class 2 buildings design experience in an engineering capacity.
- Post tension design experience.
- Sound knowledge of Australian standards, building codes and best practices pertaining to relevant service trades.
- Strong client focus with a proven track record of achieving results through influencing and relationship skills.
- Exposure to full project cycle from concept to project completion.
- Focus on innovation, value management, best practice and buildability.
- Leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Effective time management skills, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
