The Role
The Student Activation Coordinator will lead the development and implementation of the Week 1 / Year 1 Student Engagement Program as part of the Students First Program Board focusing on the establishment and imbedding of the social and academic foundations of success for students in their first year of study at Macquarie.
Key Accountabilities:
- Work closely with all faculties and offices to support the planning, review and delivery of the Week 1 / Year 1 student activation project in support of the Students First stream of the Operating Plan.
- Co-design with stakeholders and implement best practice education programs for the University to engage with first year commencing undergraduate students including international students.
- Coordinate the different program initiatives of the Week 1 / Year 1 program including recruitment and training of staff to deliver the program.
- Develop comprehensive project plan for the creation for the Week 1 / Year 1 project and provide advice and guidance to stakeholders through activity prioritisation, resource allocation, and project decision-making, ensuring adequate consultation with key stakeholders.
- Consolidate information relating to the Week 1 / Year 1 project including highlighting issues or risks, to provide advice and support to managers, sponsors and stakeholders in the development of program/project scope.
- Lead aspects of program implementation, review and reporting on outcomes of Week 1 / Year 1.
- Manage the delivery, design and continuous improvement of the Week 1 / Year 1 program to create an optimal student experience.
- Monitor progress, review and report on outcomes with a view to continuously improve programs and initiatives.

- Degree or equivalent experience in public relations, communications, events, project management or related discipline.
- Demonstrated knowledge of project methodologies, and experience in delivering projects.
- Demonstrated experience in training and recruitment of a high volume staff program
- Experience in the development of communication and risk mitigation plans.
- Experience supporting organisational transformation within complex and multi stakeholder environments.
- Experience delivering a range of events, programs or initiatives to diverse groups, including students.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and organisational skills.
- Able to build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including students.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders.
- Understanding of the Australian Higher Education sector
- Awareness of cultural diversity and relevant student issues
