About the Role
The UTS Centre for Social Justice and Inclusion is recruiting for a Student Equity Research Officer. The Research Officer reports directly to the Student Equity Research Specialist (SERS), and Australian Centre for Student Equity Success (ACSES) Fellow.
The Research Officer will support the SERS in developing and implementing a substantial work program aimed at improving the evidence base of factors leading to successful Student Equity outcomes in Regional University Study Hubs. The officer will achieve this by analysing relevant datasets, to assist in forming a more thorough understanding of how Regional University Study Hubs are positioned within the current higher education policy environment.
This remote position will be responsible for related activities over a 10 month period of the Fellowship and is funded through a grant by the Australian Centre for Student Equity Success.
The Research Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the core research and analysis activities of the Student Equity Research Specialists work program within the Centre for Social Justice and Inclusion. This position involves high-level responsibilities related to research and project management.
If successful in applying for this role, you will:
- Conduct thorough research on relevant topics related to the Student Equity Research Specialists program.
- Analyse data, literature, and existing research to inform evidence-based decision-making.
- Provide critical support for research projects within the program.
- Assist in project planning, execution, and monitoring.
- Coordinate project activities to ensure timely completion of milestones.
Within your cover letter, please address the below two key selection criteria:
- Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough research on topics relevant to Student Equity and success in higher education. This includes experience in analysing quantitative and qualitative data to draw insights and inform evidence-based decisions.
- Proven ability to provide critical support for research projects, including assisting in the preparation of reports, presentations, and other communications materials.
Remuneration & Benefits
Base Salary Range: $ $92,851 to $100,534 pa (HEW 6)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is part-time at 0.6 FTE (hours and days negotiable), remote - and appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for 9 months.
