ABOUT THE SCHOOL/OFFICE
Majarlin Kimberley Centre for Remote Health (Majarlin) is a University Department of Rural Health (UDRH) based on the University’s Broome campus. Majarlin’s aim is to contribute to strengthening the allied health and nursing workforce in the Kimberley. This is achieved through student placement, clinician support, teaching and research.
POSITION PURPOSE
The Senior Student Placement Support Officer will be responsible for supporting students on placement. The incumbent works collaboratively within the regional academic and professional team to increase the number of nursing and allied health placements in the region through new initiatives. The role will also be responsible for managing the day to day administrative functions associated with student placements and student support. These activities will contribute to building a health workforce for the Kimberley.
Key Responsibilities * Liaise with health services in the region in the development of partnerships for the placement of students;
- Allocate and manage the recruitment, scheduling and confirmation of student placements including associated travel & accommodation requirements;
- Provide customer service to students and stakeholders, ensuring timely communication when responding to queries regarding placements.
- Ensure the dissemination of specific and accurate advice while maintaining confidentiality, integrity and compliance.
- Apply policies, practices and standards under general direction to organise and prioritise work, while using judgment to solve problems arising in own work area.
- Provide financial support by monitoring expenditure against the budget and processing requisitions, purchase orders and receipts.
- Build effective relationships with students, staff and placement facilities by providing professional service and resolution of issues regarding placements.
- In collaboration with the Cultural Security Officer, organise cultural education and immersion.
- Communicate regularly with students using email, newsletters and social media outlets.
Essential * Supportive of the
of Notre Dame as a Catholic University. * Completion of a degree or completion of an advanced diploma qualification and at least 1 years subsequent relevant work experience, or completion of a diploma qualification and at least 2 years subsequent relevant work experience, or completion of a Certificate IV and extensive relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Demonstrated time management, organisational and planning skills.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, initiative, diplomacy, tact and discretion as well as proven experience handling sensitive and personal information in a confidential and appropriate manner.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare presentations, reports and promotional materials.
- Ability to work independently and work effectively as part of a team.
- Proficient in the use of database applications as well as Office applications.
- Ability to liaise professionally with a wide range of community and health stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the local region, health services and Indigenous cultures.
