About the Role

Provides leadership to a team focused on the strategic management and execution of safety related issues, provisions and initiatives across the Copper SA Asset (e.g. hazardous materials etc.). Coaches and develops teams to deliver high performance.

  • Develops operational focused Safety Strategy influenced by industry expertise and customer feedback.
  • Manages, improves and provides expertise on safety risk management practices to improve organisational safety outcomes and performance.
  • Determines the underlying cause of problems and evaluates multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems.
  • Identifies, engages and manages a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identifies and assesses risks, makes risk informed decisions, uses BHP's risk management framework and builds a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.
  • Plans, tracks the delivery of and manages a project to generate value and drive the achievement of project outcomes.
  • Defines value drivers and determines the boundaries of an opportunity to determine if it is worth further investment.
  • Sources information, plans and conducts analyses to support evidence based decision making.
  • Engages the capabilities of the entire organisation.
  • Strives to achieve 100% safety, 100% customer value and 0% waste.
  • Knows our customer and is obsessed with meeting their needs.
About You
  • A tertiary qualification, or equivalent industry experience managing safety/risk
  • Experience in a safety leadership role
  • Mining Industry experience
  • Capabilities in stakeholder engagement and influencing leadership
