About us
Facilities Management is responsible for the performance and sustainability of UniSQ’s physical infrastructure and ensures a safe learning and working environment to support the University’s academic and research endeavours and the delivery of quality and excellence in the student and staff on-campus experience.
Facilities Management also has responsibility for a centralised Facilities Portfolio Plan (FPP) to deliver strategic value and capability in support of UniSQ strategic objectives. Capital Projects within the FPP are implemented via multiple projects across UniSQ campuses and project boards.
What will you do?
Reporting to the Manager (Building Services), you will:
- Have oversight of all electrical and mechanical works across all campuses, including preventative, planned and corrective maintenance, asset replacements and management of associated staff and contractors.
- Lead Toowoomba’s campus electrical and mechanical maintenance to deliver a strategic, planned, and preventative approach to the maintenance of the estate, increasing asset reliability and improving student and staff experience.
- Be UniSQ’s technical expert for electrical and mechanical activities and be responsible for contributing to the people management, financial management and operational management of Toowoomba’s campus electrical and mechanical maintenance.
- Ensure that all areas of responsibility will generate operational efficiencies and support the principles of environmental, social, and economic sustainability.
What will help you succeed?
The successful appointee will need to understand the strategic goals of the University and consider how their area of responsibility can contribute to the attainment of those goals. Additionally, you will have:
- Qualifications in the management of electrical and mechanical systems, with experience in operating and managing High Voltage electrical assets is desirable;
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of electrical and mechanical infrastructure within a commercial or institutional environment as well as your budget management experience;
- Being a proactive leader with excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively with others to ensure operational outcomes are delivered on time;
- Demonstrated understanding of and experience working with complex building and infrastructure electrical systems;
- Demonstrated experience in managing and operating electrical, mechanical and air-conditioning systems;
- Demonstrated ability to use facilities management software applications for accessing, inputting, compiling and interpreting a range of data to support decision making.
