About the Role:
Indigo Lodge provides a range of programs from early intervention to crisis and long-term accommodation and support to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
The Support Worker – Supported Accommodation Facilities provides high quality, client driven support services to people living at the supported accommodation facility. Support is focused on developing tenants’ skills, independence and their links with their local community.
The successful applicant will possess demonstrable competency, knowledge, understanding and/or skills in the following areas:
Have a knowledge of the issues pertaining to people experiencing homelessness and a conceptual understanding of the social and political context in which they occur and the concept of and issues associated with communal living;
Have high level interpersonal and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide crisis intervention, advocacy, counselling/problem solving, mediation and conflict resolution when necessary;
An understanding of the concepts of social justice, social change and empowerment and their application to practice;
Demonstrated understanding of resident participation strategies and feedback;
Ability to effectively contribute within a team based environment including team debriefing, program planning activities and a variety of other team based consultative processes.

The successful applicant will be required to:
provide a current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration (employment/volunteer category) including NDIS Worker Screening Check if you are applying for the 1st time or have renewed your registration since 1st February 2021;
present an unsupervised contact with children or vulnerable people type National Police Check (no older than 12 months);
provide an International Police Check if you have resided for 12 months or more outside of Australia after the age of 16;
provide a satisfactory Anglicare assessed medical:
provide evidence of your COVID-19 Digital Certificates (including booster) or a vaccination exemption;
provide a current provisional or full Australian Driver Licence.
On commencement the successful applicant will be required to undertake our structured Safeguarding Children Training program.
