Our client is a leading co-educational catholic school located in the South East of Melbourne. With continued growth and reinvestment, they have a newly created role for a Sustainability, Risk & Compliance Coordinator to work closely with the Business Director, as they continue to ensure best practice programs in order to promote a positive risk management & safety culture within the school and to assist the school meet its regulatory, legal & operational obligations.
Reporting to the Business Director & working closely with the senior leadership team, in what is a flat structure you will be assisting with the functions that support the Work, Health & Safety Management Systems and Risk & Compliance Framework to imbed and promote a robust and confident risk culture across the school and also uplift across their Sustainability plan.
Your primary responsibilities include:
Assist with the risk management learning journey – including conducting risk assessments, critical incidents, work health & safety training
Ensuring compliance with Child Safety Standards across all campuses – including developing and implementing action plans and monitoring progress
Audit compliance
Document control & review – procedures; tools; plans & checklists
Continuous Improvement initiative across processes (automation)
Your background
You will be a forward thinking, passionate and aspirational leader with a genuine enthusiasm for Risk & Compliance from a strategic & operational level. Ideally you will come with experience outside of the education sector and be able to add value to what “best practice” is. A naturally strong communicator you will have:
Formal qualifications in Risk Management and/or Health & Safety
Current Working with Children Check (Mandatory)
Knowledge of VRQA and child safety standards
Proven ability to develop and maintain effective workplace relationships
Demonstrated skills in managing multiple & competing priorities – with a strong attention to detail
Sense of humour & flexibility (ability to take part in occasional meetings and events outside of core hours)
