About the role
The Turnaround Project Controls Lead is a key role within the Geelong Refinery Turnaround department and will work closely with other members of the team to manage the cost and commercial aspects of our site turnaround events. This includes managing a capital budget of upto $80M and for Turnaround events that can have direct field labour of 600+ people. This role will influence the safety, quality, schedule and cost outcomes of our Refinery Turnaround events. Responsibilities include leading the development of detailed turnaround cost estimates used for funding approval and taking action to manage spend to within the approved budget. This role is key to providing the business with predictable cost outcomes. The role will also:

  • Negotiate improved commercial outcomes with our contracting partners.
  • Manage tender process for lump sum contracts.
  • Track key metrics such as contractor productivity factors, contractor schedule and cost performance index & provide feedback to contractors where performance improvements are required.
  • Finalise and communicate detailed resourcing requirements such as peak manpower and ramp-up phasing to contractors.
  • Integrating schedule resourcing requirements into detailed cost estimate.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes.

You will have experience in a manufacturing or construction environment including experience in project controls or a similar role. You will work well within a team environment and have the ability to analyse large amounts of data and make decisions based upon this.

Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering.
  • Experience in petrochemical/manufacturing or construction industry.
  • Experience in project controls role.
  • Knowledge of Primavera P6 scheduling software highly desirable
