Position Information
Forster Public School is a school of 671 students K-6 and 5 Support Classes. Forster Public School is situated in Forster, NSW where the traditional custodians are the Worimi people. Forster Public School serves a low socioeconomic school community. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders represent 23% of the school population. Students from a non-English speaking background represent 2% of the student population. At Forster Public School we believe that every student should be challenged to learn in a supportive and inclusive class environment where student voice is encouraged and authentically heard. We are a Positive Behaviour for Learning School. Equity funding provides support to students from Aboriginal backgrounds and students from a low socio-economic community. Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students including mild, moderate and severe intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, Autism, communication needs, sensory impairment, and challenging behaviours.
Willingness to enrich student learning opportunities beyond the classroom and in areas such as sport
Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work collaboratively and inclusively with both internal and external agencies to enhance student learning and wellbeing outcomes.
A commitment to student wellbeing with the ability to develop positive relationships with cultural awareness towards students, families, and community.
Demonstrated ability to differentiate curriculum and implement individual learning programs across a multistage K-6 setting.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
