Position Information

Scone High School is situated in the Upper Hunter Valley of NSW and is a comprehensive, secondary school with an enrolment of 330 students, of which 20% are Aboriginal.

Our learning community is very dedicated to an environment that enables visible growth of each student. The school is creating opportunities for students to fulfill their potential both within the school learning environment and increasing work & leisure opportunities in the wider community.
Scone High School engages students from very broad educational settings and we pride ourselves in creating a positive approach to learning for all of our students. The school has a growing specialist support unit, consisting of three classes, an extensive Agricultural farm and modern teaching facilities, creating the greatest learning opportunities for all students.
Our school strategic directions have a focus on Growth & Attainment, Leading & Learning and Connect, Engage & Flourish. All Head Teachers are the main leaders in these Strategic Directions.

Specific Selection Criteria

1. Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience teaching students with Mental Health needs, Emotional Disturbance, Behaviour Difficulties, Mild and Moderate Intellectual Disabilities, Autism and other complex support and learning needs.

2. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated capacity to work in positive partnerships with students, staff, families, external providers and the wider community.

3. Ability to provide personalised learning opportunities for a variety of needs across the whole school community.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
