Position Information
Willyama High School (enrolment 572 students, including 125 Aboriginal students) is a comprehensive high school located in Broken Hill in Far West NSW. Our school has established positive relationships and strong connections with our local community with a focus on evidence-based teaching and learning practices that inspire our students to excel through academic, sporting, extra-curricular and cultural endeavours. There is a strong focus on using technology in the classroom and improving literacy and numeracy throughout our school. Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience teaching students with autism and mild intellectual disability. Demonstrated ability to differentiate teaching practices to promote engagement and improve student literacy skills. Demonstrated capacity to develop a positive and well-managed learning environment, through the implementation of wellbeing strategies. Demonstrated ability to effectively implement technology in the classroom, including modern and innovative practices, with a focus on improving teaching and learning. Demonstrated understanding of, and the capacity to cater for, the needs of Aboriginal students.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
