About the opportunity
This is an exciting permanent, full-time opportunity for an appropriately experienced Team leader to join our team at the Blacktown Animal Rehoming Centre (BARC).
You will be leading a team of Administration Assistants and the Animal Adoption Officer to:
- provide guidance to and supervision of the Animal Rehoming Centre clerical and rehoming teams
- ensure animals are released to owners, adopted by new owners, and released to rescue groups as per relevant legislation and Council requirements
- ensure administrative functions are carried out efficiently and recorded effectively.
Qualifications and experience
Essential:
- Cert IV in an appropriate field
- Demonstrated experience in dealing with customers
- Demonstrated experience in leading and supervising a team including the ability to motivate all the position holder’s staff at the facility
- High-level oral and written communication skills, including sound negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Sound computer skills, with proficiency in the use of Council’s data systems
- The ability to work with companion animals
- Demonstrated commitment to reuniting lost animals with their owner ASAP and finding new homes for unwanted animals ASAP
- Availability to work Monday to Friday and every second Saturday
- Availability to work Sundays as required
- Current Class “C” driver’s licence.
- Sound knowledge of all relevant Acts, Regulations, Guidelines of the Companion Animals Act 1998
- Relevant qualifications in the area of Business Studies, Management or Animal related fields.
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $1,342.43 per week
- 38-hour working week
- Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
