About the opportunity

We are looking for a highly motivated, appropriately experienced and qualified bush regenerator to be a Team Leader within the Natural Areas team. We have a rapidly expanding Natural Areas portfolio with numerous assets to protect, improve and maintain.

As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for managing a small team, predominately involved in the restoration and maintenance of natural assets including bushland and wetland areas.
This position also works closely with bushcare volunteers and provides supervision and guidance where required.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Tertiary or trade qualifications in Bushland Maintenance or related area
  • Minimum 12 months experience in Bushland Maintenance or related area
  • Experience in the maintenance of wetland areas
  • Class MR driver’s licence
  • Staff supervision experience
  • Extensive experience in maintenance of Open Space bushland areas.
Desirable:
  • Chainsaw operation certificate of competence
  • Chemical application accreditation
  • Senior First Aid Certificate
  • RTA approved Traffic Controller Accreditation
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation/regulations
  • Computer literate
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Ability to direct and supervise staff
  • Availability to work rostered overtime as required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Work Health and Safety, Equal Employment Opportunity and Anti-Discrimination Principals.
Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,210.10 per week
  • 38-hour working week
  • Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 10.5% employer superannuation contribution payable to Active Superannuation Scheme, Fitness Passport and gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
