Position Overview
The Team Leader Corporate Governance and Information Services (TLCGIS) plays a key role in the achievement
of corporate goals as they relate to Corporate Governance and Information Management services and
practice. The TLCGIS ensures that sound governance and information management is implemented, delivered,
embedded and maintained across the organisation in order to promote a culture of good governance and
safeguard effective information management in line with the organisation’s systems, risk and compliance
responsibilities and its corporate objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate Governance and Information Management
- Ensure the efficient day to day management and operation of the Corporate Governance and Information
and motivated staff and the delivery of key business unit outcomes.
- Drive the development, implementation and review of modern and compliant Governance and Information
legislative obligations and align with Council and business unit strategic objectives.
- Lead the maintenance of Council’s policy and process management through partnering with leaders to
legislation and regulations.
- Provide timely and professional advice to staff and Elected Members that supports the interpretation,
policies.
- Collaborate cross departmentally on continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service delivery and
policy and legislation.
Corporate Governance
- Implement, manage and maintain frameworks, policies and systems that support and underpin the
organisation.
- Drive the delivery of Corporate Governance service deliverables through high levels of customer service to
- Oversee the end to end management and allocation of delegations, sub-delegations and authorisations and
legislation and organisation details.
- Perform compliance activity including undertaking formal reviews under section 270 of the Local Government
with legislative requirements.
- Support the Freedom of Information process by providing advice and recommendations based on research,
independent and compliant determination is reached in the best interests of Council.
- Undertake more complex and contentious compliance investigations and projects to ensure outcome
- Provide subject matter expertise, advice, training and support to internal and external stakeholders so as to
responsibilities.
- Provide support to the Manager Corporate Services as a liaison with the Office of the Ombudsman, OPI,
- Identify, develop, implement and deliver governance programs, reporting and initiatives that improve
- Coordinate, prepare, facilitate and deliver training as it relates to both Governance policy and practice
- Monitor, prepare and provide reports to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) on key Governance activity and
organisational service levels and the organisation’s compliance with legislative responsibilities.
Information Management
- Implement, manage and maintain the information management strategy and the supporting policies and
management of corporate knowledge, records and information.
- Oversee the effective and compliant management and use of Council’s Electronic Document Records
activity to ensure the EDRMS is in optimal operation at all times.
- Drive development, system training, support and ongoing enhancement of Council’s EDRMS to ensure
user experience.
- Ensure high quality training and support services are available to support the ongoing use of the EDRMS in line
- Deliver high quality information management services in a professional and ethical manner ensuring
operations and available resources.
- In line with the strategic direction of Information Management, support the delivery of continuous

Authority, Responsibility and Accountability
The Team Leader Corporate Governance and Information Services is authorised to:
- Work under general direction and within established guidelines and procedures and exercise initiative and
- Perform duties of Governance Advisor pursuant to the Local Government Act as delegated by the Chief
- Make decisions within the scope of relevant legislative requirements and processes.
- Make decisions which are consistent and meet with Councils processes.
- Make decisions based on data, knowledge and research.
- Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with relevant legislation and within delegated authority.
- Maintain compliance with and awareness of all Council/Administrative policies.
- Maintain compliance with and awareness of all Risk Management systems including Work Health Safety
workplace.
- Undertake duties as a Worker in accordance with obligations under the Work Health and Safety Act 2012.
- Deliver a quality customer experience in accordance with Council’s Customer Service Charter.
