Family and Relationship Counselling Program - Team Leader

CatholicCare Tasmania are offering a rare opportunity for an experienced and suitably qualified Family and Relationship Counsellor to fill a Team Leader role supporting our Southern team.
The Family and Relationship Program is funded by the Commonwealth Government Department Social Services (DSS), with the expectation that CatholicCare Tasmania will also apply a fee for service policy to clients, according to DSS Guidelines. CatholicCare Tasmania, as a Child Inclusive Agency, is committed to working in the best interests of young people.
The program aims to assist all families, couples, individuals and children though we prioritise those most disadvantaged or at risk. The program provides counselling, group work, mediation/support for separated families, specialised family violence interventions and family relationship skills and training.

What will you do?
- Create a harmonious and productive working environment by always setting and adhering to high Professional integrity and performance standards.
- Provide counselling to individuals, couples and families using appropriate theoretical models of intervention and EAP services.
- Engage with and assess client needs and develop appropriate therapeutic intervention strategies.
- As part of the wider Family, Counselling and Therapeutic leadership team, participate in and promote initiatives to standardise and develop internal systems while contributing to activity work plans and other funding agreements.
- Provide support to team members via regular supervision to develop practitioners’ skills and knowledge and enhance their clinical practice through consultation, participation in professional learning activities, and participation in peer reviews.
What can you bring to us?
- Detailed knowledge of family violence issues, including good understanding of impacting issues such as mental health, substance abuse and poverty, with a minimum of 3 – 5 years of clinical experience.
- Demonstrated experience and training in relationship and family counselling, including work with children individually, and in groups in a child focused/inclusive practice.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams through process reforms, organisational changes or restructures.
- Proven ability to supervise a team of Counsellors, Social Workers and/or similar allied health professionals and network effectively, including resourcefulness and organisation skills.
