Team Leader - Newcastle Sexual Assault Service

This position is open to Senior Psychologist, Senior Clinical Psychologist and Social Worker Level 5.
Based at the Wallsend Campus with space at JHH, and outreach clinics across Greater Newcastle sector, the Newcastle Sexual Assault Service (NSAS) is a 24/7 crisis counselling and specialist medical response as well as ongoing counselling, support and advocacy for clients and non-offending family members, significant others and carers.
About the role:
The role will be committed to building positive relationships and working collaboratively with systems at multiple levels, engaging and working in partnership with a range of stakeholders to deliver the Sexual Assault service model in the face of competing demands. You will be able to utilise your ability to understand and utilise systems, developing measured change where required. Outstanding communication and relational skills will be central to your work. The successful applicant will be well supported within the team by the NSAS Senior Clinician, the Adult Medical Lead, the Paediatric Medical Lead, our enormously experienced and skilled team of Counsellors, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners, and Medical Forensic Examiners and our Administrative Officer extraordinaire. You will work in close collaboration with the VAN Hunter Clinical Lead, the Service Manager, your Team Leader colleagues, the HNELHD SAS and VAN networks, and the NSW State-wide SAS group.

The successful applicant will use their emotional intelligence, organisational skills and dedication to person-centred care to lead the team in providing high quality care. You will bring experience as a Social Worker, Senior Psychologist or Senior Clinical Psychologist into a space where you will provide senior expertise, leadership, guidance and direction to staff and maintain a positive, professional culture that facilitates effective health service delivery outcomes in a constantly changing environment. We would welcome interest from a diverse range of backgrounds, with direct SAS experience not essential.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
