About the role
Due to significant team growth and internal promotions, we have one permanent position, and one 12 month contract available within our Insurance Experience and Optimisation team. Reporting to the Manager, the Team Manager Assurance is responsible for the completion of assurance activities that enable and support the Insurance business to manage it’s regulatory, legislative, compliance and operational risks. Your key duties include:
- Leading a team of Quality Assurance Officers and Auditors in providing independent appraisal of claim file quality in line with process and service standards
- Monitoring the completion of assurance activities in line with the Quality Assurance framework
- Raising and managing instances of non-compliance, making recommendations on remedial activities;
- Identifying opportunities to uplift capability and culture relating to the assurance framework, and its supporting activities, and first line risk management; and
- Holding responsibilities for development, implementation and ongoing management of the assurance framework, and the continuous improvement of assurance tools and processes.
About you
This role provides strong leadership and management of the Assurance team through setting clear expectations and direction, coaching and motivating for performance. The Team Manager leads by example to achieve member, operational, and engagement goals and objectives whilst managing risk by ensuring compliance to regulatory and code expectations. It is important that you possess the following key attributes:
- Experience in leading people
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills by fostering a collaborative approach to team activities and knowledge sharing
- Prior experience in Insurance and/or claims, or related field
- Demonstrated knowledge in assurance activities and frameworks, including understanding of best practice and market trends
- Strong knowledge of current and Insurance compliance standards
- Strong knowledge of Insurance risk review policies and processes
- Understands the end-to-end claims process.
- Understands and is knowledgeable about compliance and governance issues pertaining to the Insurance business (e.g. NPP, Privacy Act, GICOP Act, ICA Risk Review compliance standards)
- Is competent using Insurance systems.
- Strong root cause analysis skills and problem-solving capability
- High attention to detail
