Job Description

The Role

Are you passionate about asset management and want to contribute to challenging and interesting programs and projects that provide direct value to our communities? AECOM’s Asset Management & Materials team partners with our clients to optimise and improve their business performance by offering integrated asset, risk and information management advisory services. We currently have a rare opportunity for a Technical Director to join the team and support the successful delivery, profitability and strategic growth of our infrastructure asset management services across sectors from Water to Transport, Defence, Energy, Industrial, Property, and Community Services. This role can be based in our Melbourne, Sydney or Canberra office.

The successful candidate will join our ANZ Asset Management practice and will help drive the implementation of AECOM’s Australia/New Zealand (ANZ) Asset Management Strategy across various sectors of the business. This is a career-defining opportunity for a driven professional to play an instrumental role in the continued growth of our service offering.

Using your strong client-focus and developed networks, you will work within our multi-disciplinary team to seek out new opportunities, nurture positive client relationships, and deliver timely, innovative and high-quality project outputs. We are looking for someone who can integrate many aspects of Asset Management including embedment of information management principles and digital delivery into a BAU approach for clients. You will be a motivational project / initiative leader, fostering the growth and development of our team, which comprises of a combination of new talent and experienced professionals, whilst focusing on technical excellence, project management and client service satisfaction.

Your main responsibilities will involve, but will not be limited to:

  • Specific business development and strategic growth initiatives

  • Project delivery responsibility and accountability for the successful delivery of bids / projects / tasks ensuring quality outputs on time, every time

  • Providing advice to clients based on your technical skills and knowledge in business and change management processes and/or strategic / tactical / operational asset management

  • Commitment to client relationship development and management, and championing the AECOM “Client Promise” Innovative leadership and the technical review of others work, mentoring and upskilling junior members of the team

  • ‘Big picture’ appreciation – incorporating a holistic approach to managing infrastructure through linking skillsets from across the wider AECOM business to deliver integrated solutions to our clients.

Qualifications

About You

We are seeking a passionate and committed industry leading professional with a strong background in asset management and program / project delivery. You will have a strong interest in developing integrated management solutions for our clients across their asset portfolio, and the successful candidate will have considerable experience in business process optimisation and change management, including the use of data and technology.

Ideally, you will have:

  • A desire to apply and continue to grow asset management consulting skills (strategic, tactical and/or operational) within AECOM and across sectors, and to be recognised as a respected advisor to clients as a primary career goal

  • A proven record of establishing and building relationships with asset owner / manager clients and successfully delivering work to strengthen their organisational capability so that repeat business is achieved

  • Commercial acumen, customer focus and business analysis skills Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  • Commitment to providing quality outputs on time, every time A strong and proven understanding of Asset Management leading practices, frameworks and relevant standards Strategic and tactical thinking capability applied in asset management throughout the asset lifecycle

  • Proven ability to plan and deliver a broad range of asset management, risk management and business improvement services Ability to coach and mentor individuals (this position does not entail line management but instead the growth of more junior people within project teams and the business)

  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative and sustainable strategies (in line with AECOM’s Sustainable Legacies), including the integration of other business line expertise

  • Exceptional demonstrated experience in managing and nurturing client relationships and networks within the business and previous experience in promoting and selling the skills of the business to external parties to develop new business development opportunities

  • 20 years relevant professional experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications.
