GHD has one of the strongest technical Aviation design teams within Australia, with a proven record of delivery in Civil and Defence aviation projects around the country. Our South Australia Aviation group includes Airport Geometry and Planning, Pavements and AGL capability . This enables us to service our airport clients, whether they are capital city airports, regional or mining airstrips, or Defence Air Bases. We are currently working on a number of exciting large CAPEX projects, including the design of new taxiway and apron capacity upgrades, master planning and feasibility studies for greenfield mining airstrips, and existing runway and taxiway pavement rehabilitation works.
Within Adelaide’s Airport Geometry and Planning team we have a fantastic opportunity for a Technical Director / Design Manager to work alongside industry-leading professionals and provide technical leadership on a range of diverse, high-profile national and international airport projects.

This diverse and exciting position will see you involved in:
Leading, managing, and working with multi-disciplinary project teams
Planning, detailed design and documentation of airport civil infrastructure, including airside geometry, stormwater drainage and general civils, in particular for runway, taxiway and apron pavement infrastructure
Undertaking designs in accordance with relevant airport standards, in particular Part 139 MOS, ADRM or ICAO Annex 14
Delivering innovative and robust technical design solutions to projects
Liaising and communicating with clients to understand their project needs and user requirements so that this can be translated to the design solution
Maintaining/developing and applying specialist knowledge/distinctive competence in the various fields of aviation civil engineering
Working on projects through the design and construction lifecycle, delivering them on time and within budget
Developing and mentoring team members by sharing your existing technical knowledge and setting a strong example, being a role model
What would you bring to the team?
Bachelor Degree or higher in Civil Engineering or associated discipline with minimum 15 years’ experience, preferably in the aviation sector
Understanding of Part 139 MOS, ADRM or ICAO Annex 14
General civil geometric design with some background in airport design
Understanding of key design issues relating to airside geometric design, airside stormwater, and general airside civil engineering
Airport master planning and feasibility studies desirable
Ability to coordinate and work within a multidisciplinary environment
Highly developed communication skills, both verbal and written
