The opportunity
As the Technical Director – Wastewater Process Engineer you will be responsible for contributing to our Australia technical practice capability in relevant wastewater treatments, ensuring design solutions are appropriate, effective, and in line with sustainable goals. You will also play a key role in delivering technical solutions on projects and providing governance across design and advisory project development and delivery.

Work with local management and the international water sector team to assist in promoting and developing Mott MacDonalds presence in the local wastewater treatment, water reuse and advisory markets. In collaboration with the Business Development team, you will be involved in identifying focused project opportunities, developing key client relationships, and leading Mott MacDonald’s technical marketing efforts to secure profile projects that align with the strategic ambitions of the business.

Other responsibilities include.

• Assist in raising MM’s position in the marketplace, develop strategic and effective relationships with industry and academia, and develop a leading business position for our business in the areas of water and wastewater treatment.
• Maintain and develop relationships with existing Clients, demonstrating technical expertise in key areas of process relevance and a track record of repeat work with clients.
• Use your leadership skills and technical expertise to mentor and coach our growing water team.
• Deliver digital innovation and expertise, from the development of digital twins through to data analytics and process optimization.

What Can you bring to the team?

• Minimum of 10 years’ process experience working on wastewater treatment projects including client facing positions in the areas of concept and detailed design, construction supervision and commissioning.
• Technical excellence in regionally adopted wastewater, water reuse, and biosolids technologies within both municipal and industrial treatment sectors.
• Experience and knowledge of trends in wastewater treatment technologies, including digitalization and data analytics, along with advances in waste to energy.
• Capability to deliver process knowledge traditionally, in a BIM environment, and through digital tools such as process models and optimisation tools.
• Be passionate about developing sustainable and innovative solutions for our clients by technically leading strategic pursuits, with leading edge thinking encompassing the principles of sustainable development, climate resilience and circular economy in line with client expectations for each opportunity.
• Have a strong aptitude in BioWin modelling and associated optimization opportunities
• Proven ability to market engineering services to clients and technically lead strategic bids;
• Proven experience in providing competitive, innovative, successful and sustainable solutions appropriate to individual clients.
