The Division
The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centered integrated transport services and infrastructure.
The opportunity
Right now, we have an opportunity for a Technical Manager to join us in the Community and Place team – Major Projects Handover North. The Technical Manager role supports the development, implementation and evaluation of a wide range of projects and initiatives in support of branch strategic objectives, organisational strategic plans and workforce management programs. The role forms part of a flexible, multi-skilled team that will work across a variety of areas within the branch with a strong focus on major projects.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Provide technical input, project management, coordination, and support across major projects such as Coffs Harbour Bypass, M1 to Raymond Terrace, and the Singleton and Muswellbrook bypass projects.
- Strong focus on Client requirements and the integration of the project back into the business on completion.
- Research to support the development, delivery, and evaluation of a range of project initiatives.
- Develop and utilize a range of project tools and documents, including proposals, plans, briefs, and reports to support effective project planning and delivery.
- Provide technical/engineering management oversight associated with the development of business cases and related activities.
- Participation in project development and assessment processes, including options assessment processes, participation in workshops, drafting of technical papers, inputs to business cases, and stakeholder/ governance presentation materials.

About you
To be successful you will need a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience working as a Project Manager or similar.
Ideally, you will have strong experience in project development and/or implementation management of construction & infrastructure projects, including project development, environmental planning, and assessment processes, and stakeholder involvement strategies. You will have a thorough understanding of how technical deliverables are used and feed into business case development and delivery.
We are looking for a Technical Manager who demonstrates critical thinking, excellent collaboration, communication, and relationship management skills. You will have extensive experience in supporting complex or sensitive projects, including the high-level ability to set clear goals and implement systems to ensure projects meet agreed objectives.
This position is a full-time Temporary Fixed Term until October 2024.
Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is RMS USS 11 ($145,203 – $154,934) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
