About This Opportunity

The University is acquiring new Human Resources, Workforce Management and Payroll Systems that will function as the Human Capital Management Solution. Leading the testing workstream of the program, the Test Lead will be responsible for working with the selected vendor’s implementation team to ensure the effective and timely delivery of the chosen systems.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Lead testing strategy and planning required in the HCM program. Steering the scope and shape of work, ensuring cross University links are made, and that resources are prioritised in line with Steering Committee expectations. Oversee the management of all testing aspects of the program lifecycle including planning, development, execution and completion

  • Develop and implement a program level test strategy covering all modules / systems and various test plans
  • Develop the testing stream section/s of the program plan
  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Identify and manage testing related program risks and issues
  • Assist in the preparation and development of committee papers to maintain effective program governance.

· Implement the test program plan across the HCM Program, ensuring effective and efficient delivery through the use of automation, testing toolset and appropriate resourcing

  • Coordinate testing activities, test reporting and outcomes across multiple project phases and test types
  • Identify opportunities for testing automation
  • Create and maintain comprehensive testing documentation
  • Manage the staff within the testing team to ensure day-to-day operational efficiency and the goals of the program. This includes working with stakeholders both within UQ and externally
  • Ensure program milestones and other deadlines are met
  • Lead the selection of testing tools required to execute the test program. This includes the identification, sourcing, development and use of the toolset

· Engage with the implementation partner and 3rd party suppliers on testing aspects of the program

  • Work in a partnership with Program vendors to ensure the functionality and performance of the software is delivered in accordance with the stated requirements and business expectations
  • Maintain a productive working relationship with internal and external stakeholders including leading any testing working groups

· Provide quality management throughout the program, ensuring that relative to the triple constraints of time, cost and quality, quality is not forfeited in relation to meeting the needs of end users

  • Provide supervision of test team resources and/or vendor resources as required in the preparation of testing activities and test execution
  • Ensure that service definitions, levels and targets are appropriate, agreed with stakeholders and that they are delivered
  • Develop and maintain frameworks and metrics to measure the success of the program and ensure collection of data for compliance monitoring
  • Manage program risks, including updating of the program risk management register and ensuring that mitigation measures are actioned / escalated as required

· Working closely with IT staff, contribute to the effective management of technical change, including development of change management plans, and communication with stakeholders ranging from user groups to the wider UQ community.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have the following

Essential criteria:

· Demonstrated capacity to conceptualise, develop and review program testing strategies, objectives and policies of a program.

· Excellent organisational skills with demonstrated ability to manage large projects and people effectively against differing timelines/changing priorities and an ability to implement programs, procedures and policies that will contribute to increased operational efficiency.

· Qualifications/training equivalent to postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; an equivalent combination of experience and/or education/training.

· Significant experience in testing management in a project environment with a strong track record in the delivery of IT system implementation / business improvement projects.

· Experience with industry-standard testing methodologies and tools.

· Subject matter expert in developing, championing and implementing new test strategies and processes.

· Extensive management experience and proven management expertise in the testing function in an enterprise-wide program including management of a team of test resources.

· The ability to analyse and interpret detailed and complex technical information to ensure well informed decisions throughout the lifecycle of a program

· Excellent interpersonal skills and problem solving ability, with the ability to negotiate, demonstrate diplomacy and tact, and effectively build relationships with a diverse group of senior stakeholders, colleagues, and staff.

· Excellent people management skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage, motivate, mentor and lead a team of staff in a changing environment with deadlines and tight timelines.

· Demonstrated high level of accuracy and attention to detail and quality and timeliness of completed work, including written reports and presentations. Effective oral and written communication skills for a diverse audience.

· Ability to work autonomously and be self-motivated, combined with a high level of initiative, drive and enthusiasm. Strong work ethics and willingness to go the extra mile to accomplish tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Salary: $119,000.00 – $126,000.00 per year
