From our beginnings as a single dress fabric stall at Queen Victoria Market Spotlight has grown to become one of the largest fabrics, craft, party and home decorating superstores.
Spotlight Design team, our internal Design team supports the development of design, product development and packaging across our private brands and integrated brands across our Spotlight Merchandise teams. This will be a hands-on, entrepreneurial, fast-paced role in a culture that rewards initiative and great ideas.
What You Will Be Doing
Working closely with the Head of Design and Innovation, Design Manager and the rest of the Design team to create commercially profitable designs for the Home Interiors (Manchester, Home Décor, Furnishing) and Sew Fashion categories, working in conjunction with the Merchandise buying teams and their product lead merchant strategies
Collaborating with the Merchandise buying teams to support their design and product development needs for our key private brands
Development of the seasonal trend forecasts, mood boards and key themes for the Home Interiors and Sew Fashion teams
Development of international trip reports, instore competitor research and analysis
Anticipate and actively monitor long-term local and global market developments and their organisational impact
Creating artwork hand drawn, painted or digital along with creating technical spec packs for our suppliers for production
About You
5+ years of experience in high volume commercially successful textile design, preferable experience in the product categories across Home Interiors and Fashion and/or FMCG retailers.
Experience in working with high volume, commercial product, and design range development, in collaboration with multiple merchandise buying teams. Customer focused.
A strong understanding of textile design, colour, fabrications, textile yardages and print repeat/placements
An ability to identify and track global trends across our product categories and utilise them into your design output. Ability to interpret a design brief.
Solid understanding of the end-to-end end design process, from design concept to production
Strong time management skills and can work to meet deadlines, structured work approach, focused on speed to market, attention to detail, resilient and adaptable, team player
Strong understanding of quality and compliance standards
A strong ability on Adobe Illustrator CS/Photoshop (CAD software) and other relevant tools. Ability to turning hand painted artwork into finished designs.
Tertiary education in either illustration, textile, or graphic design
