Who is Lighthouse Foundation?

Lighthouse provides therapeutic care programs to children and young people impacted by long-term neglect, abuse and homelessness. Our focus is to create caring communities where young people can feel safe, form meaningful relationships and begin to heal. All Lighthouse programs, are underpinned by an evidence-based therapeutic model of care, called the Lighthouse Model of Care (LMC). The LMC integrates trauma-informed practice, attachment theory, and psychoanalytic principles of emotional development to create a holistic therapeutic treatment environment.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The role provides therapeutic case management to enrich the safety, attachment and physical and emotional development for trauma-impacted children and young people living in residential setting we call ‘Secure Base’. Lighthouse’s Secure base program provides therapeutic care to children and young people (aged 2-18 years) who require a 24/7 staffing model. The program is designed to create a ‘secure base’ for children and young people with complex needs and demonstrate high- risk trauma related behaviours. These children have often experienced significant trauma with a profound negative impact on their psychosocial, cognitive, and physiological development and mental health. The purpose of the role is to provide therapeutic case management to young people who live in the home, as well as coordinate, lead and manage a team of therapeutic carers to provide a therapeutic home environment. This position works closely alongside the Lighthouse clinicians and Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.

The position available is located to work across two homes in the Northern Suburbs of Melbourne, caring for a small case load of young people. The position will be rostered to work weekdays with possible weekends dependent on the needs of the young people and homes.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum Cert IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention or other higher level qualification in Social Work/Youth Work equivalent is essential.
  • Applicants must also complete the mandatory upskilling units as required by Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.
  • Hold a current Working with Children Check (Employee)
  • Complete a National Criminal Records check, and participate in a psycho-social screen by Lighthouse,
  • Provide consent for a Disqualified Carers Check
  • Hold a valid Victorian driver's licence
