THE ROLE

The Track Engineer is responsible for managing the integrity of the Sydney Trains Track Network ensuring system reliability is maintained and provide support to the Regional Engineer Track. This role will see you take accountability for the following:

• Provide engineering support and advice to Track team
• Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the network and monitor its daily activity to ensure a clear understanding of the current status of network reliability
• Approval of contingency plans when major elements of the network are out of service
• Provide advice to various planning and management teams on operational engineering issues to ensure the network will meet Sydney Trains needs
• Manage the approval of technical instructions for operating specific equipment or general operating procedures for the network
• Develop and implement systems and process to improve the reliability of the network
• Provide advice to the Regional Engineer Track on reliability improvement initiatives for implementation on the track network
• Provide specialist Track Engineering support to the Infrastructure Operating Centre (ICON) in normal and emergency conditions
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering process within the Track Engineering Team
• Promote a safety and wellbeing culture by observing and applying relevant rules, regulations and instructions, in relation to safety, safe working practices, attendance and Code of Conduct
• Execute safety responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities consistent with Sydney Trains safety management system requirements which are defined in SMS document number SMS-02-RG-3058.
• Obtain and maintain TICKS accreditation and other accreditation a required to meet the function of the role.

To be successful in this role you will be a qualified Civil Engineer with considerable experience in maintenance, construction and commissioning works in an operational environment coupled with knowledge and demonstrated work experience on track assets. Should possess experience in applying quality assurance, asset integrity and risk management principles in an engineering environment.
