This Trades Assistant role in our Tree Risk Management team will be responsible for the maintenance of trees and vegetation leading to the improvement of natural areas, reserves and roadsides across the Central Coast, through sound trade support practices.

Your day could include anything from tree trimming, general tree maintenance and vegetation management to carrying out works to keep our public spaces safe and clean.

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

Our ideal candidate will enjoy adding value to the team by bringing an innovative perspective and new ideas. You will also have extensive relevant experience in vegetation and tree maintenance and enjoy working to create safe and pleasurable public spaces for the community.

Key activities of this role include:

  • Carrying out various tree and vegetation management activities within reserves and natural areas;
  • Effectively and safely utilising chainsaws, pole saws, hand tools, power tools and other equipment;
  • Ensuring that natural areas and reserves are left in a clean and safe state on a daily basis to minimise risk of harm to the public.

Essential Criteria:

  • Medium Rigid (MR) Drivers Licence;
  • Traffic Controller ticket;
  • Implement Traffic Control Plans ticket;
  • Chainsaw - Trim & cross cut felled trees;
  • Current First Aid Certificate;
  • WHS Construction Induction Certificate (White Card);
  • Extensive experience in general tree maintenance using a range of chainsaws and a chipper, gardening and parks maintenance;
  • Experience using hand tools and items of minor plant;
  • Working in a team environment and providing quality customer service to the public.

This role provides a commencing salary range of $1,013.46 to 1,216.00 per week ($52,841 to $63,402 per annum) + $17.00 weekly Allowance + 10.5% Superannuation.

A 9 day fortnight work-cycle currently applies to this role.

Successful candidates will be required to undertake a course of vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus or demonstrate their immunity.
