ABOUT THE ROLE
Position
We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic individual looking to commence a career in engineering. This is an exciting opportunity to gain valuable on the job professional water and wastewater engineering experience while completing your tertiary studies.
Reporting to Council’s Strategic Engineer – Water and Wastewater, you will be a member of a professional team motivated to deliver quality water and wastewater programs and projects for Council and the community. The role provides the opportunity to be mentored by professional engineers in a challenging fast-paced working environment.
In this role you will learn on the job and complete the study component of the degree primarily outside of standard working hours. All costs associated with compulsory course fees and requirements whilst undertaking this course with Council will form part of the support provided to you in this role. This is a temporary position that will cease upon successful completion of your tertiary studies and on the job training.

- Currently enrolled, or eligibility to enrol, in a Bachelor of Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent) degree.
- Demonstrated interest, capacity and commitment to develop skills and knowledge relating to the water and wastewater industry.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills, both oral and written
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and in a team with solid time management and organisational skills.
- Proven competency with the Microsoft Office suite, namely Outlook, Word and Excel, and other corporate software.
- Demonstrated customer service skills with an understanding of conflict resolution principles.

- An annual salary range of $38,700 to $57,600 (plus 10.5% superannuation) dependent upon skills, experience and qualifications.
