About the role

We are delighted to announce that we are inviting applications for Trainee Operator - MMU in our Adelaide SA Quarries location.

There has never been a better time to join our Adelaide Quarry Services Team. With several long-term contracts in South Australia now signed and underway, and more exciting new business ventures to come shortly, this area of our business really is buzzing with excitement.

This is a chance to secure a stable and long-term role with the global market leader in blasting. At Orica, we have incredible training and organizational development infrastructure in which to support Shotfirers, Operators and Blast Crew members who wish to take the next step in their careers into Technical and Blast Engineering related roles, or Leadership within our large global business.

Based in Adelaide, on a Monday – Friday work week, our Shotfirers form part of a well-oiled, united, highly performing, and supportive team of blasting professionals.

As a valued member of our quarrying teams, you will assist in always providing a quality service to our South Australian Quarries Customers in a safe and environmentally conscious manner. You will be working closely with Shotfirers, Surveyors, MMU Operators and Bench Assistants on site, managing all tasks associated with loading, tying, and firing.

What you will be doing

• Demonstrating and setting the example of our key Company value “Safety is our priority, Always”;
• Operating our MMU trucks and other associated blasting plant machinery;
• Assisting with preventative maintenance on all associated plants and machinery;
• Assist with the ‘hands-on’ delivery of explosive products into pre-drilled blast holes;
• Working in tight unison with our teammates to provide excellence in service to our valued customers.

What you will bring

• A current Heavy Rigid (HR) driver's license is preferred but not essential;
• Demonstrated history of working outdoors in a physically demanding environment is essential;
• The ability to pass all required security checks in which to obtain a Safe Work South Australia Security Clearance;
• An excellent, positive, and team-based attitude where you look out for your teammates;
• A basic mechanical comprehension would be highly regarded;
• The ability to pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screen.
