Chinova Resources is a private Australian resources company owned by the Shanxi Donghui Group of Companies, with principal activities focussed in North West Queensland. The company has existing processing operations at Osborne and an open pit mining operation at Starra, south of Cloncurry. Ore is hauled by road train from Starra on a newly constructed and sealed 50km road to the Osborne processing facility. In addition to the current mining operations Chinova has several development projects that are being advanced to a decision to mine and extensive exploration activities on a large and prospective tenement holding.
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Training & Safety Coordinator to join the Health Safety & Training team, sharing Chinova’s values and our commitment to safety and the environment.
The Training & Safety Coordinator reports to the Superintendent HST. The primary purpose of the position is to ensure site-based employees are trained to legislative requirements and training standards. The Coordinator is also responsible for promoting a positive health, safety and training culture in the workplace by collaborating, educating and partnering with leadership teams and employees across Chinova.
Duties include, but are not limited to :
- Analyse organizational training needs and modify existing training programs to meet the needs of the training needs analysis
- Evaluate the performance and teaching methods of the Training Advisors. Provide recommendations for improvement in methods and training approaches
- Schedule and coordinate training programs both internal and external courses, aligning to the TNA
- Liaise with site supervisors the training needs of their teams and plan training requirements
- Ensure all legislative and regulatory requirements are met as defined by the MQSH Act 1999 and the MQSH Regulations 2017
- Ensure compliance to Chinova policy and procedures
- Assist leaders in ensuring training needs are identified and meet the desired outcomes
- Map Business partner training to ensure compliance to Chinova requirements
- Manage “workplace Inspections”
- Schedule training to meet operational needs.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and experience with learning management systems; INX-InTuition or other training platforms is preferred.
- Significant experience in a similar role in open cut/underground mining
- Working knowledge of relevant legislation
- Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety
- Cert IV in Training and Assessment
- QMS 123 qualification
- Experience in applying Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) and Australian Skills Quality Authority
