We have an opportunity for a Transport Supervisor to lead our team of night shift drivers responsible for our Convenience & QSR operation. This role is based at Hume Rd, Laverton and reports to the Transport Manager – VIC.
This is a morning shift role, starting at around 6:00AM and requires the individual to work autonomously with minimal guidance, whilst being able to work closely with our Operational Leaders and Customer Service team to ensure we provide a high level of service to our customer.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure sub-contractors and drivers are compliant under Chain of Responsibility (CoR)
- Work collaboratively with Convenience site operations to ensure that scheduled trucks are despatched on-time
- Ensure that all drivers are trained across Convenience transport requirements including Load Restraint, Roll-Cages handling, and In-Store requirements.
- Ensure all Reverse Logistics requirements (i.e., product returns, MHU) are met in terms of inventory control and maintenance
- Review weekly commercials, identifying variations from budget and initiating remedial action
- Ensure a high level of service is provided to internal and external customers, whilst driving performance to meet contracted and set service level KPIs (utilisation, DIFOT)
- Allocate and record resources and movements in the transport management system (TMS)
- Manage the working relationship with subcontractors, drivers and labour hire providers
- Book subcontractors and ensure they deliver within agreed terms
- Ensure any people issues regarding sub-contractors or drivers are raised to the appropriate contact person
- Work closely with the Customer Service team to ensure customer/store queries/complaints are dealt with efficiently and effectively, in a timely manner
- Ensure sub-contractors and drivers are paid correctly and on time
- Ensure Company fleet/vehicles are maintained and serviced
- Ensure the TMS weekly cut-off requirements are met
- Complete safety reporting as required by business in the safety system
- 5 years plus experience in a similar role, within the Transport / 3PL industry
- Experience leading a team of drivers (subcontractors and labour hire)
- Excellent understanding of CoR principles (NHVLR, Mass/Fatigue Management)
- Experience with developing and implementing financial budgets, targets and reporting
- Has the ability to provide training to subcontractors and drivers on Company processes and procedures
- Experience with managing customer relationships and resolution of issues
- Strong understanding and implementation of safety procedures, product safety, quality and legality issues
- Experience with asset management
- Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office, WMS, TMS)
- Strong customer service, problem solving and influencing skills
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
