Job description

Are you a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Midwife (RM) authorised as a Nurse Immuniser? Do you have a passion for assisting with the protection and immunisation of our community? We are seeking applications from suitably qualified RNs and RMs to join our COVID 19 vaccination hubs and clinics in the Far West Local Health District.

Where you'll be working

NSW Health is currently seeking staff for clinical and non-clinical roles to work in its network of COVID-19 vaccination clinics and vaccination hubs located across NSW. You will be part of a dynamic team working together to provide vaccinations to our community against the COVID-19 virus.

It is vital that vaccination clinics and hubs provide clinically safe services with collaboration between multidisciplinary staff across clinical and non-clinical staff to deliver excellence in patient experience. Vaccination clinics and hubs will see you working and partnering with a range of staff and roles from Local Health Districts and other key agencies.

What you’ll be doing – Vaccination Clinic Registered Nurse Immuniser

The purpose of this role is to provide safe and effective nursing care to staff, patients or consumers using a person centred approach. The goals of care will be within the professional boundaries and Scope of Practice of the Registered Nurse (RN) and Registered Midwife (RM) . The RN/RM will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with individual/s and the greater health care team to achieve quality patient care outcomes.

The RN/RM Immuniser will be a part of the pandemic response. In accordance with NSW Health policy, will administer vaccination programs to the community throughout metropolitan Sydney, surrounding locations or other areas of NSW including regional and remote areas

Opportunities exist for experienced candidates to assist with clinic oversight and cold chain management.

What else do you need to know?

  • You will need to have completed or be in progress to complete a recognised course for authorised nurse immuniser and completed additional requirements as per PD 2020_050 (Authorised Nurse Immunisers Policy Directive).

Applicants will also be required to provide the following:

  • Working with Children Check (WWCC) number for paid employment in NSW

  • Evidence of vaccination against specified infectious diseases

Selection Criteria:

  2. Current Registered Nurse - Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

  4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, through the use of information technology, written and verbal means while interacting with the team in a professional manner.

  5. Demonstrated ability to thinks critically with a willingness to provide leadership and coordination for the delivery of patient care, while working with integrity and accountability.

  6. Demonstrated skill in the use of relevant technology used in the healthcare arena and support the roll out of new technology and devices as they arise.

  7. Completed or in progress to complete a recognised course for authorised nurse immuniser and completed additional requirements as per PD 2020_050 (Authorised Nurse Immunisers Policy Directive).
