A clinic located in one of Australia's largest dairy regions is seeking an enthusiastic mixed practice vet to join their 9 vet practice on a full time basis. The ideal candidate will be ambitious and passionate, with the drive to deliver best-practice care to patients.
The caseload is truly mixed and consists of cattle (dairy and beef), horses, companion animals and small ruminants. This position will have a case load of 50% production animals with the balance companion animals. The practice provides proactive herd health, ambulatory and preventative health and farm consultancy.
Sheep work is also on offer for someone with a keen interest.
Exceptional support and mentorship is on offer for new graduates through their own graduate development program. New graduates are encouraged to apply.
The practice is well equipped with all the toys for large animal work, including linear and sector ultrasounds, hydraulic tipper crush and bull testing gear. They are one of the few clinics in Australia who perform laparoscopic LDA's.
The practice has a strong focus on professional development and have an on staff BULLCHECK™ and PREGCHECK™ accredited examiner for those looking to build core cattle skills.
Their companion animal practice is equally as established and includes digital x-ray, dental x-ray, ultrasound, endoscope, ECG, CBC/Biochem, coag and urinalysis machines and anaesthetic monitoring equipment. Canine reproduction also form a core component of the practice.
The right candidate will be provided with a fully equipped vehicle, work phone and laptop. A paid AVA membership, Plumbs App subscription and Vet Surgeons Board registrations are also included.
Full time vets work a 9 day fortnight with time off in lieu if they have a weekend on call. The role also includes 4 weeks annual leave, 1 week conference leave and 5 days paid volunteer leave each year.
The after-hours roster is equally shared and is 1 in 5 to 6. When on call, support is provided by the TeleHealth Triage team of experienced nurses.
Remuneration will be dependent on experience.
The employer is willing to assist with a visa for overseas qualified veterinarians. Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and be eligible to register with the Veterinary Practitioners Board of Victoria.
The area offers excellent sporting and recreational opportunities and is an easy 2-hour drive to Melbourne. The surf coast beaches are only a short drive away.
