About Us

Murdoch University is home to the only Veterinary School in Western Australia, and its prestigious teaching hospital provides the clinical facility that enables students to learn hands-on skills in veterinary clinical and diagnostic sciences. It also provides a service to community through its team of top specialists who oversee the care and treatment of all animals referred to the Hospital.

TAHMU aims to provide an environment where high professional and clinical standards, based on available scientific evidence, are tempered with genuine care and compassion.

The Role

The key purpose of this role is to provide veterinary nursing technical support to clinical teaching within the veterinary science program at Murdoch University. This can include supervision of students using the Clinical Skills Laboratory or performing surgical procedures as part of training in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program.

What you’ll bring to this role

Completion of a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent, or completion of a relevant Veterinary Nursing Diploma level qualification registrable in Western Australia
Confidence and skill when handling and restraining animals
Good knowledge of both diagnostic and surgical equipment, as well as sterilising and aseptic techniques
Excellent organisational, time and workload management skills, including the ability to prioritise workload to meet strict deadlines
Previous experience in a teaching role or training in clinical skills with undergraduate students
