About the Scholarship

As part of Swinburne’s exciting Victorian Hydrogen Hub (VH2) project, we are seeking applicants who are highly motivated and passionate about research, and who have the aptitude to undertake solution-focused research to join a broader multidisciplinary research team.

The specific focus of this PhD position is to study hydrogen adoption in aviation. This research aims to develop an analytical framework and conduct empirical studies to identify key issues and challenges related to hydrogen adoption in aviation, and evaluate what requires to facilitate the hydrogen powered air vehicle entry into services from the perspectives of government, regulators, aircraft operators and infrastructure providers, with a particular focus on key quantifiable drivers. The goal is to help better understand the benefits and potential risks associated with the hydrogen implementation, management, and applications in aviation.

About you

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • An Honour’s degree class 1, or a Master’s degree with High Distinction, or equivalent
  • A solid background in a relevant field such as economics & finance; transport modelling; data analytics; or STEM
  • Demonstrated expertise in modelling and simulation
  • Highly motivated and passionate about research with an interest in aviation
  • For those English is that their first language, International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or equivalent with a minimum overall score of 7.0 with no individual band score below 6.5.
