Visual Designer (Sustainability)

Role Description

As a Visual designer you will work across several aspects of design from bringing concepts to life visually, creating visual storytelling artefacts such as journey maps and experience ecosystems, translating complex concepts into simple visualisations, participate in concept creation as part of a multidisciplinary design team, supporting the Product Designer to create UI concepts.


You'll be a great fit if you:

  • Have a passion and curiosity about sustainability. Experience in and strong fluency in the topic is awesome – and a willingness to learn more

  • Establish and give direction to other design team members on the look and feel of concepts.

  • Lead the creation of design concepts through organisation of brainstorms, workshops, and other idea-generating sessions.

  • Contribute to development of client-requested POVs.

  • Support and drive gathering deliverables into client-ready presentations.

  • Apply an expert understanding of clients’ needs, business objectives, and brand goals to inform insightful concepts while enhancing others’ knowledge and understanding of the client’s brand, consumer and competitive landscape.

  • Design mood boards, comps (with and without wireframes), concept sketches, presentation decks, style guides, and storyboards. Contribute content and create decks.

  • Present creative concepts and designs and communicate rationale to the team.

  • Demonstrated advanced problem-solving skills to help establish a look and feel for a given project, evaluate a creative approach, brainstorm, think and respond quickly while delivering unexpected, original and innovative ideas

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain attention to detail across project deliverables and management of version control issues

  • Manage and prioritise work effectively, for yourself and team as needed.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to clearly articulate your creative process, thoughts, ideas and a point of view about your work, both internally and externally to clients

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment with multidisciplinary teams

Minimum requirements

  • 5+ years of design experience

  • Exceptional design portfolio with examples of work that demonstrates visual communication and storytelling skills, conceptual problem solving and the ability to define look and feel for integrated experiences

  • Expert command of standard design and presentation applications (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Keynote, Figma, Sketch, Mural or Miro). Experience with video editing, motion graphics, and prototyping software is a plus

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience

  • A passion for sustainability and a curiosity for how design can change the way we live and work

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

  • Familiarity with design thinking methodology, collaborative work practices and the ability to present internally/externally, including coaching junior staff

  • Demonstrated advanced problem-solving skills to help establish a look and feel for a given project, evaluate a creative approach, brainstorm, think and respond quickly while delivering unexpected, original and innovative ideas

  • Learning the ability to define creative direction for work across accounts and drive teams to the successful creation of high-quality work product

  • Understanding of the production process (asset creation, specification creation, and handoff to development)

  • Understanding of areas of specialization within the wider design landscape, including but not limited to: Design Research; Visual Design; Interaction Design; Service Design; and Content Design
