Assistant Director EL1Quality Assessment and Monitoring GroupOngoing Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Melbourne (Box Hill), Perth, Sydney (Parramatta) We are the national end-to-end regulator of aged care services and are focused on delivering a world class sector that safeguards the welfare and rights of consumers. These responsibilities include: granting approval for providers to deliver aged care services administering the Serious Incidents Response Scheme reducing the use of restrictive practicesWe independently accredit, assess and monitor aged care services subsidised by the Australian Government, conduct investigations and determine provider compliance including whether compliance and enforcement actions are required. We also resolve complaints about services, and provide education and engagement to achieve our regulatory goalsMeet some of our people and learn more about the Commission and our Regulatory Strategy on our website www.agedcarequality.gov.au The opportunityThe Quality Assurance and Monitoring Group is responsible for the effective delivery of quality assessment and monitoring of approved provider compliance with the Aged Care Quality Standards, undertaking accreditation and reaccreditation audits of residential aged care services, completion of Quality Reviews of Home Services and flexible aged care services, responding to reported serious incidents and investigating worker regulation obligations. Additional enabling functions include infection control monitoring, responding to complaints regarding our performance, and administration of quality assessor registration requirements.Please refer to the Job Pack for more information on the Assistant Director positions available in the Quality Assurance and Monitoring Group.

As an Assistant Director in the Quality Assessment and Monitoring Group, you will: Provide strategic direction and leadership to a team, building both individual and team capacity to undertake roles efficiently and professionally and meet the expected standards of service quality and consistency. Work constructively with key internal and external stakeholders and support staff to effectively manage operational priorities and implement effective change in a reform environment. Manage high volumes of work to achieve business priorities and key performance indicators. Be accountable for monitoring emerging issues, identifying the impact of these on the Group’s operational priorities and implementing agreed treatments.

Actively support and demonstrate leadership to contribute to achievement of the Commission’s strategic direction and corporate priorities. Foster and support staff wellbeing and contribute towards maintaining a positive culture. Exercise delegated decisions under the Commission Act and Rules based on a sound understanding and knowledge of relevant legislation (dependant on the role) and principles of effective decision making. Our ideal candidateOur ideal candidates will demonstrate their capability to: Provide strong leadership and management skills and the ability to build capability and provide support to staff dealing with high workloads and external stakeholder interactions.

Deliver sound judgement, analytical skills and ability to understand and apply legislation and make delegated decisions. Build organisational capacity and responsiveness, while managing competing priorities within prescribed timeframes. Respond positively to change and takes responsibility for managing work projects to achieve results. Provide high-level negotiation skills and ability to work with a range of stakeholders to achieve outcomes.

Provide excellent interpersonal and oral and communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with key external stakeholders. Work collaboratively with others to focusing on the operational priorities and strategic direction of the Commission. Identify and respond appropriately to risk within a regulatory risk framework. Deliver excellent attention to detail, strong written communication skills, and adept time management skills.

Deliver in depth knowledge and experience in administrative decision making or be able to demonstrate a capacity to quickly acquire this knowledge. Provide comprehensive understanding of contemporary regulatory investigations processes, practices, and experience in leading investigative reviews (relevant to some roles). Undertake work activities with an awareness of their possible impact on strategic, political, or operational outcomes for the Commission. Understand and comply with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks, such as the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission Act (2018) and the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission Rules (2018) and the Aged Care Quality Standards.

Publicly represent the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, acting professionally (including adhering to APS Values & Code of Conduct and operating within the boundaries of organisational processes and legal and public policy directions. EligibilityTo be eligible for these positions you must be an Australian citizen.Successful candidates will be: assessed through our pre-employment screening checks, such as an Australian Criminal History Check. Required to provide evidence of seasonal influenza and COVID 19 vaccinations. Position Notes Salary offered will be between $109,853 and $125,288 per annum depending on skills and experience.
