Bear Cottage Children's Hospice is situated in MANLY and cares for children with life limiting illnesses and their families in a holistic home like environment. Bereavement care is also provided.
The team at Bear Cottage are supported by over 100 Volunteers who assist in all areas of the operation. This dedicated group of individuals work with a strong pride and passion ensuring families are given the high level of support they deserve.
The Volunteer Manager is responsible for the overall management of the Volunteer team and ensures recruitment, education and support is provided.
We require an individual who can work enthusiastically within our multidisciplinary team, has strong management skills, flexibility and a desire to lead our Volunteers to a personal best. Knowledge of Volunteer programs is desirable.
What you'll be doing
Bear Cottage, located at Manly, is a service of the SCHN. Bear Cottage provides end of life and respite care to children with progressive, life limiting illnesses and their families.
The volunteers at Bear Cottage provide a wide range of support, enriching the program and the service provided to the children and their families.
The Volunteer Manager is responsible for the recruitment, management, training & supervision of all volunteers at Bear Cottage.
The Volunteer Manager will have a clear understanding of the needs of Bear Cottage and will be familiar with the different areas where volunteers are required to assist. An understanding of the needs of the families is also essential.
- Understand the principles of paediatric palliative care and the children's hospice and the role of the volunteer in this setting
- Experience in management, including previous experience in recruiting, managing and developing staff and project work
- Experience in providing workplace training programs
- Proven organisation and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a part of a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good computer skills
