Position Summary:
Joins, fabricates, and repairs equipment, structures, and various types of metal objects using different welding techniques.
Job Responsibilities:
Analyzes plans, and drawings to determine measurements, plan layout, and sequence of welding assignments.
Determines the best equipment and welding methods such as MIG and TIG welding, electric arc, and oxygen-acetylene based on the specific job requirements
Operates drill presses, grinders, power saws, and various powered and nonpowered hand tools
Clean equipment, using scrapers, wire brushes, and cleaning solvents
Ensure WHS, Environmental and Quality compliance in accordance with established procedures, policies, and work standards
Undertake and participate in job and plant hazard identification and incident notifications
Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by WHS legislation, industry standards, and company policies
Be familiar with the locations of First Aid equipment, Fire extinguishers, and evacuation procedures.
Contribute to team morale by following the code of conduct when dealing with colleagues in the workplace
Assist in the training of new employees and apprentices
Any other job-related tasks as directed by management
To be successful in the role, the candidate must have:
Relevant Trades Certificate in Welding and Fabrication.
Solid previous experience as a welder specifical in MIG/TIG and structural steelwork and agricultural fabrication.
Experience reading and interpreting technical documents and drawings
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
An ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
High level of safety orientation.
While local candidates will be given priority, outstanding international candidates may also be considered for employment with 482/TSS visa sponsorship.
