About the Opportunity

SafeWork SA is looking for someone who is passionate about safety and working with industry and stakeholders to promote safe and healthy workplaces.

The Work Health and Safety (WHS) Support Officer assists in providing WHS and Industrial Relations information to workplaces, workers and members of the public. You will work closely within the team to provide practical WHS guidance and advice.

The WHS Support Officer will assist in providing practical advice to email requests, assisting Information Officers in answering complex calls and identify process improvement opportunities to improve work, health and safety knowledge and understanding across South Australia.

To be a successful candidate you will need to have proven experience in working with people, educating, and providing advice. If you are passionate about safety and want to make a difference to the community, then you should apply.

SafeWork SA is a business unit within Attorney-General’s Department and is responsible for providing work, health and safety, public safety, and state-based industrial relations services across South Australia. As a regulator, our Investigators and Inspectors ensure work, health and safety, and public safety standards are met, and appropriate action is taken when breaches of laws are detected. We also help people better understand their work health and safety responsibilities.

Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.

Special Employment Conditions
  • Engagement in this role is subject to a satisfactory Department of Human Services General Employment Probity Check. A renewal will be required every three years.
  • Some out of hours work may be required.
  • Some intra and interstate travel requiring overnight absences may be required.
