The Opportunity
CDC currently has a permanent full-time opportunity available based at our Queanbeyan Depot for an experienced Workshop Supervisor to lead and develop our skilled team of Workshop staff. This role will see you focus on maintenance scheduling, compliance with legislative regulations, inventory and workshop database, outsourced repairs, fleet availability and leading a team to deliver outstanding vehicle service and presentation. You will also build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and government authorities to promote our safe and reliable transport network. This position is Monday to Friday with a rotational weekend on call roster.
Job tasks and responsibilities will include:-
- planning and managing daily functions of the workshop so that requirements are met or exceeded
- managing vehicle maintenance workflows including:-
- vehicle servicing and yard repairs including sourcing external contractors where required
- arranging and preparing for HVIS inspections
- job card preparation and assignment
- maintaining vehicle service data and history records
- organising warranty work/parts with dealerships
- attending breakdowns and accidents
- ordering of spare parts and materials
- providing workshop assistance to depots at other locations (including interstate)
- monitoring of workshop Key Performance Indicators
- updating the maintenance system
- conducting toolbox talks, recording minutes and attending to action items
- ensuring the depot fleet is maintained to a safe and presentable standard that consistently meets the rules and regulations of the NHVR and RMS
- managing and ensuring adherence to the approved Workshop Repair and Maintenance Budget
- ensuring appointed sub-contractors perform work in accordance with agreed vehicle maintenance standards
- inspecting and approving timesheets and weekly payroll
- working closely with the Operations Team regarding service, repairs and maintenance to fleet vehicles
- maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the workshop including repairs and service to workshop equipment
- arranging training courses for team members
- working with the MTA regarding apprenticeships
- participating in further training as needed to meet job requirements
- complying with all company policies and procedures
The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience:-
- Relevant trade qualifications (Cert III in Heavy Vehicle Road Transport) and 5 years+ industry experience;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong mechanical, workshop and safety knowledge;
- Previous bus/coach experience an advantage
- HR licence
- Sound work ethics, reliable and able to produce high quality workmanship
- Able to work under pressure to agreed time-frames
- Diagnostic/fault finding skills
- Auto Electrical/Air Conditioning skills essential
- Able to lead, motivate and supervise a team to deliver exceptional outcomes
- Intermediate computer skills
- Forklift licence
- Experience working on a mixed fleet
