Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.About the RoleAs Victoria's largest regional health service, Barwon Health offers employees the opportunity to work within a close knit health care community, reminiscent of smaller local health centres, that is able to provide diverse care, much like that of its metropolitan counterparts. With all of the major specialities represented apart from Neurosurgery, major burns and Transplant Medicine, Barwon Health provides a major referral service for the South West region of Victoria.This means great exposure to Adult, Paediatric, Surgical, Medical, Obstetric/Gynaecological, Psychiatric and Subacute services to name a few. Doctors in training can progress their careers through their work in the hospital and in our community-based services and are provided with supervisors and mentors who can assist with career progression, training and exam success. Our Emergency Department (ED) term fulfils the requirement for the paediatric component of General Practice (GP) training. Those who come to work at Barwon Health often remain in the area providing long standing excellent care to our community. Come and join the team and see for yourself!Rotations include Emergency, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, ICU, Geriatrics, Psychiatry (Community or In-patient rotations available) and rotations at Colac Area Health Service. Barwon Health is co-located and has strong links with the Deakin University Clinical School. There are opportunities to obtain further experience in supervision and education, whether it be with medical students or junior medical staff.A HMO position at Barwon Health will provide you with opportunities to advance your skills in preparation for a career in General Practice, particularly for doctors interested in rural practice, as well as in Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Psychiatry, Paediatrics, and Geriatric Medicine. The role requires participation in the roster for after-hours, on-call and recall as required by your unit.This role is a six month position for PGY2+ applicants.
