Job description:

Western Health is currently seeking applications for the 2025 Midwifery Bridging Program. Western Health has an excellent reputation for providing midwives a smooth transition to practice. The Bridging Program is a 6 month program for students who have completed the Graduate Diploma of Midwifery, Early Career Midwives and Midwives re-entering midwifery practice, working 64hrs per fortnight (0.84FTE). Four intakes are offered in 2025 - February, April, July and September.

Western Health can offer you:

  • A comprehensive on-boarding plan, regular debriefing sessions and study days

This program will be supported by Clinical Midwifery Educators and Clinical Support Midwives.

Selection criteria- to be considered for this role applicants (dependent on the category you belong to below) must satisfy the below:

For completed Graduate Diploma of Midwifery candidates

  • Must be a Registered Nurse undertaking the Graduate Diploma of Midwifery in 2024
  • Must be registered with AHPRA as a Registered Midwife prior to commencement
  • Must be eligible to work as a Registered Midwife in Australia
  • Must have immunisation clearance prior to commencement (including evidence of COVID 19 vaccination)

For Early Careers candidates

  • Must have graduated in the last 2 years but not had the opportunity to complete a graduate program or the opportunity to work across the pregnancy continuum post course completion
  • Must be registered with AHPRA as a Registered Midwife
  • Must be eligible to work as a Registered Midwife in Australia
  • Must have immunisation clearance prior to commencement (including evidence of COVID 19 vaccination)

For re-entry (Refresher) to Midwifery Practice candidates

  • Must be currently registered with AHPRA as a Registered Midwife or applied for re-entry registration
  • Must have worked as Registered Midwife since graduating from the Bachelor of Midwifery/Graduate Diploma of Midwifery but have been out of practice for 2 or more years
  • Must be eligible to work as a Registered Midwife in Australia
  • Must have immunisation clearance prior to commencement (including evidence of COVID 19 vaccination)
