Location: Cairns servicing Cape York communities
Status: Full Time Permanent
Salary: $83,383 - $89,435 p.a. + 11% superannuation contribution

About Us
Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health service, which provides culturally appropriate, family centred, primary health care services to the communities and people of Cape York.

About the Opportunity
This position will deliver direct and comprehensive primary health care services, consistent with the Apunipima Way and Model of Care and provide operational leadership as part of a multidisciplinary team to improve health outcomes for the people of Cape York.

Pre-employment screening for vaccination against Vaccine Preventable Diseases will be conducted for the successful applicant.

About You
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice
  • Current Health Practitioner registration with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • A minimum of four (4) years' experience as a Health Worker
  • Demonstrated experience as a Health Worker within a clinical practice environment, with a sound understanding of integrated client care in a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to apply a high level of professional judgement, knowledge and skills in the delivery of clinical care
  • Advanced interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with a wide range of clients with diverse needs
  • Understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs
  • Current Queensland Drivers Licence
