  • permanent full-time positions (38hrs per week)
  • based in Dundas, NSW
  • SCHADS Award Level 5 plus salary packaging and fully maintained vehicle.

About the program

The Family Preservation WSNBM program provides targeted support to vulnerable families to prevent children and young people (0 to 17 years old) from escalating into the child-protection or Out of Home Care system.

What you’ll do

We are looking for outstanding Caseworkers who are conscientious, reliable and motivated about making a difference. We are seeking staff who wish to apply their skills in the complex child protection area. Although this will be your focus, you will have to work with all members of the family unit.

We are currently seeking an Aboriginal Caseworker to work across the Blacktown, Nepean and Cumberland areas. This position is based in Dundas. Wesley Mission provides regular supervision and support for all staff including cultural supervision and mentoring for Aboriginal staff in line with our RAP. Wesley Mission has made a commitment to play our part in striving for generational change in the way our nation honours and celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Who you are

  • minimum 2 years’ experience in working with vulnerable families experiencing stressors, including domestic violence, child protection issues, parent drug and alcohol misuse, parenting skills, child behaviour management, learning difficulties, parental mental health and social isolation
  • Diploma-level qualifications in Community Services or relevant field
  • ability to engage families at point of unexpected initial contact
  • cultural competence and experience working alongside and coaching CALD and Aboriginal families
  • current NSW or National driver’s licence
  • knowledge of the local Aboriginal community in which you live or work.
  • experience in managing electronic files and data bases.
