About The Role
An amazing opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Aboriginal Partnerships Advisor to join the City Life directorate at the City of Kwinana This is a part-time position reporting to the Director City Life and working alongside a stellar team of passionate and innovative leaders.
Your role as the Aboriginal Partnership Advisor will facilitate the City’s relationships with Aboriginal Corporations, Aboriginal peak bodies and the local Aboriginal community. This includes supporting managers and teams across the Council to partner with Aboriginal groups, organisations and Elders, and support community projects and initiatives.
As the go-to specialist in this field, the successful applicant will play a critical role in ensuring that positive communications and relationships between peak organisations, various levels of Government and the community and the City are fostered. The successful candidate will also be responsible for maintaining and progressing the City’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
- Extensive positive relationships within the local Aboriginal community.
- Demonstrable knowledge key issues impacting the local Aboriginal community, Aboriginal Heritage and preferably insight in Nyoongar language.
- Sound knowledge of contemporary practice and policy relating to Reconciliation, and Aboriginal affairs.
- Highly developed interpersonal, teamwork, communication, networking, and relationship-building skills, with an ability to provide exemplary customer service.
- Proven analytical, creative-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Well-developed computer literacy skills demonstrated in report writing, record management and professional communications with an attention to detail.
- Driver’s licence, willingness to obtain Police Clearance, First Aid Certificate and work after hours as required.
