The position will make a leading contribution to the Institute's academic achievements and reputation. The principal responsibility is to manage the academic functions of the Institute ensuring that their performance facilitates the quality higher education and student experience that the Institute aspires to provide and is following applicable Institute policy and procedures and external regulatory standards. In this position, the Academic Director is to lead the Institute's academic disciplines ensuring innovative, collegial, and effective collaborations across the disciplines and the Institute more broadly. The Academic Director will also work closely with the key internal and external stakeholders to develop long-lasting relationships that support the Institute's outstanding student experience, student learning outcomes and program quality.Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to -Strategic> Make a leading contribution to the development and implementation of the approved strategic plan specifically its academic component.> Fully engage with and support the academic board in its governance role including through the provision of expert advice, timely transparent information, and, quality proposals with associated draft documentation for academic programs, policies and other pertinent initiatives.> Contribute to a positive working relationship with TEQSA and other stakeholders ensuring compliance with the Higher Education Standards and any other applicable regulations as well as the professional relevance of the programs.> Lead the development, delivery, ongoing review and if needed, revision of the Institute's academic offerings and the associated aspects such as pedagogy, scholarship, learning support, academic integrity, and, academic policies and procedures.Management> Ensure the effective management of the Institute's teaching and learning including the development of academic staff including their scholarship, ongoing performance monitoring and productive collegial engagement with non-academic staff.> Ensure comprehensive academic risk management processes and monitoring systems are in place and in general contribute to the Institute meeting its legal, environmental, social, and financial obligations.> Contribute to the development of the annual budget and long-term forecasts and oversee the effective deployment of the relevant (academic) component of the approved budget to maximise Institute provision of quality higher education, including through staff recruitment and infrastructure provision.Other> Advance the Institute's academic reputation and standing by facilitating positive relations with stakeholders, key external bodies and target audiences of community and professional sectors.> Help promote a culture within the Institute that aligns with the Institute's values and personally act all times in accordance with those values, complying with the Institute's Code of Conduct.Essential Selection CriteriaESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA
- PhD degree relevant to the position.
- Possession of police checks and working with children's clearances.
- Significant experience in curriculum design, accreditation and quality assurance including dealing with the requirements of internal academic governance and the external regulator TEQSA
- Pertinent experience in managing the delivery of academic programs and the associated provision of learning support including establishment of necessary policies and procedures, performance and risk management, quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated capacity to build and lead an engaged, effective, and proactive academic team and to establish productive relationships with the student body, other Institute staff members and relevant external stakeholders.
- Evidence of effective communication and strong interpersonal and intercultural skills, - academic credibility and understanding of the higher education context, personal drive and strong professional integrity and ethics, and commitment to the mission of the Institute.
- preferably a leading contribution to the academic component of a successful new higher education provider registration and/or course accreditation.
- evidence of the ability to grow the reputation and success of academic programs such as through:
- - building and maintaining strong key relationships partnerships and collaborations, locally and internationally
