Job description

Phoenix Academy is an experienced (35 years) international training provider and RTO located in Perth, Western Australia. We are looking for an academic leader who is passionate, energetic, and determined to make a difference to the academic outcomes of our students and clients. 

Applicants who do not think they meet all required skills and experience are encouraged to apply. A role with reduced oversight and responsibilities may be negotiated (e.g. Director/Manager Training).
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all Phoenix academic programs.
  • Lead Phoenix's corporate and industry-based training.
  • Manage our compliance responsibilities including RTO Standards, the ESOS Act and Regulations, the National Code, and other related training sector compliance. 
  • Manage all aspects of VET including compliance, trainer supervision, new trainer induction, ‘Train the Trainer’ programs etc.
  • Oversee and review Training and Assessment Strategies (TAS) in all departments and update as required. 
  • Participate in creating new business opportunities by preparing EOI's and Tenders.
  • Oversee and advise on ELICOS programs.

           
Selection Criteria:

  • Degree in any relevant field. 
  • TAE50216 Diploma of Training Design and Development* or post grad qualification in adult education and training. 

*There is an opportunity for the successful candidate to undertake the TAE50216 Diploma of Training Design and Development on the job if they do not have this qualification.
 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Hands-on experience in the vocational training industry of at least 5 years.
  • Detailed and strong knowledge of vocational training and training package requirements. 
  • Experience in supporting and mentoring staff, as well as proven ability to work as part of a team as well as leading teams.
  • A high level of written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively liaise with key stakeholders. 
  • Excellent organisational and computing skills. 
     

Desired skills/experience:

  • Experience using Student Management Systems, Assessment Reporting Systems such as Axcelerate, and Learning Management Systems. 
  • Experience in preparation and participation in funding and regulatory compliance audits.
  • Experience in an international student environment and ELICOS programs.
